What are you harvesting?
The Harvest Moon is typically around the Autumn Equinox. It is called this because it provided the light, beyond the day light hours, needed to harvest the abundance grown throughout the summer.
What is it that you want to take with you through the rest of the year?
What can you glean from all that you have been through, all that you’ve done and seen?
What weeds in the mind need to be plucked out and left behind?
Harvest time is a celebration; you can feel it in the warm late summer air. You can smell it in the wind, the dried grass, the hay bales, the tree limbs laden with fermenting fruit. You can’t miss the abundance everywhere.
What is something big that you’ve grown through? Celebrate it.
What are the small wins you accomplish every day? Celebrate them.
What and who supports your life to be the grand journey that it is? Celebrate that.
The Harvest Moon calls us to linger a little while, to stay and soak up the small miracles all around. The feeling of the warm ocean lapping at our feet, the sound of cicadas heralding another warm day, the colours and textures of a champagne sunset.
What small miracles make your heart happy?
What small miracle can you give to yourself every day?
What small miracle can you give someone else today?
Harvest time is about sharing our abundance. Whether that is actual food, through shared meals and social gatherings, or sharing our most valuable time and energy. Do not underestimate the value of being a witness or having someone else witness the smallness of our everyday lives.
Let this Harvest Moon be a reminder of all the small ways that life is supporting you.
