Lemon Essential Oil
Lemon essential oil is cooling and clarifying, it makes a refreshing tonic to all skin types. With astringent, antiseptic and toning effects, lemon oil can be used to balance oily, congested or acne-prone skin. With gentle antimicrobial activity, lemon can also be used for boils, fungal conditions, cold sores and warts. The deodorising and purifying effect of lemon make it a useful ingredient in formulations for greasy hair and in deodorants.
Avoid direct sunlight after applying lemon essential oil to your skin. In formulations for the body, Lemon oil offers an invigorating fresh scent and a detoxifying, toning action when applied to congested, stagnant areas including cellulite, fluid retention, varicose or spider veins, as well as rheumatic joint conditions. Lemon oil also has shown antimicrobial and immune supporting effects, diffuse or as an inhalation for coughs and colds. In aromatherapy, lemon essential oil is thought to aid concentration, ease agitation and calm the mind in times of overwhelm, indecisiveness or fatigue.
